A family is beginning

On July 11, we received the most exciting news we had been waiting for. I was pregnant! Just to make sure it was 100% for real, I took 3 pregnancy tests that same evening. After visiting the doctor's office, we received confirmation that the little "peanut" inside of me was beginning to grow.

On September 15, 2008 we had our first sonogram and saw our little one developing so fast. How amazing!!! He/she was waving its arms all around and moving all over in my tummy. Everything checked out and the baby is healthy and growing. We couldn't be more pleased to hear all was well. In about 5 weeks we'll be able to find out the sex of the baby.

December 14-It has already been a couple months since I last blogged about this incredible journey we are on....parenthood. Ava Magdalena is growing rapidly and so is her mothers belly. She kicks and moves all the time now, making it very exciting for both Mamal and I to feel her every move. At night she loves to play hard, so that can be a little frusterating, but at the same time amazing. She seems to sleep most parts of the day and wakes to get a good stretch after she gets fed...when I am eating Sweet foods are her favorites thus far. This week I go in for my 27th week check up....can you believe it I am already in my 6th month?! Only 3 and 1/2 to go.

On March 6th at 1:00AM I lay awake in bed to the possibility that my water just broke. Is it true, is it really time, and is this really happening now? As of 1:45am my doctor on call had been awakened to my news and I was sitting in labor and delivery at Good Samaritan Hospital with an IV hooked in to me and waiting for my labor to begin. What excitement and adrenalin Mamal and I were experiencing. Time seemed to tick, tick. Contractions began to become more aggressive. By lunch time the Rahimi's had arrived to the waiting area and were just as eager as we were to be there to celebrate the birth of Ava Magdalena. The afternoon quickly came and went as so did dinner time. By 9pm it was game time, 10 centimeters dilated, epidural topped off masking the pain and I was ready to give it my all. 4 hours later, Miss Ava decided she wasn’t going to make an appearance naturally and called for a C-Section. At 1:25am our daughter was born and the whole purpose of life and why we are put here made complete sense. Mamal and I welcomed with open arms Ava Magdalena Rahimi on Saturday, March 7th....7 lbs, 10 oz., 20 inches long!
